Who doesn’t love a butterfly? They are such beautiful creatures and are so helpful as pollinators. Not to mention how colourful they are! This inspired me to create a new video on my channel, and a new FREE Printable you can download from the site, on making 3-D butterfly embellishments that you can use in your art. They are super easy to make and absolutely adorable.

Supplies
- Free butterfly printable or other images of butterflies
- scrap paper (book papers, kraft paper, scrapbook paper etc)
- scissors, needle, thread
- pencil and eraser
- glue and sewing machine (optional)
Process
Print out your butterflies and fussy cut them. Then, lay them out on your scrap paper and trace around them. Cut out the silhouette, then lay that silhouette on another scrap paper (contrasting would make it pop a bit more). Trace around that silhouette and cut it out. By tracing around each silhouette you make the butterfly shape just a bit bigger and that adds to the layers. Lay your three butterfly shapes one on top of the other and then glue together just the bodies. I also like to sew through the bodies from bottom to top, leaving extra thread on top as antennas. Gently fold the wings of the top butterfly up to reveal the layers below. Adjust the way you like them then glue them on to your project. Super easy!
