In today's video, I am going to show you how to make book cloth at home. It is really easy to do, but it does take some time. Why make book cloth, you ask? Book cloth helps to protect the fabric, hide glue marks and make it more resistent. There are many techniques out there, but I have decided to show you just two - a natural and more "recyclable" way. Below is the recipe for wheat paste: Ingredients - 250ml (1 cup) warm water 3tbsp plain flour 3 tbsp cold water tea tree, clove or other essential oil with antibacterial properties (optional) Place the 250ml warm water in a pot on the stove to begin heating. In a cup or small bowl, mix together the flour and cold water to create a paste (you may need more or less water depending on how dry it is) Pour mixture into the heated water on the stove and stir well. Allow to go back to a boil then turn off the heat. Put a couple drops of essential oil into the mixture after it has cooled. Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 6 days. Have fun! If you have a lot of paper scraps that you just can't use anymore, a good way to give them a second life is to turn them into handmade paper at home. I know there are hundreds, if not thousands of videos online out there on how to make paper at home, but this is my take on it - it is easier than you think and is great fun!
