In the autumn we harvested apples – so many different varieties – with our local Wildlife Watch. It was great fun learning about the different types of apples and seeing all the differences!
We also had the excitement of chopping and crushing them – after we figured out how to put the press together! They made so much juice and it was so sweet- I can tell you that store bought juice has nothing on this stuff! It was just amazing! I can’t even describe the mix of flavours in my mouth.
And the most important thing of all – the children had the chance to see where it all comes from and the work that goes into making the things they take for granted. Connecting them to the seasons and the natural world and helping them appreciate all these things in life.
If you are in the UK and have a Wildlife Watch group near you, I highly recommend going!
