I was so honoured to start my We Are Family project with Stacey and Siobhan. They are such wonderful humans, and we had a great time just being together and playing and chatting. It was great to get to know their family dynamic, and observe their connection and love for each other.

When I asked for volunteers for this project, I also asked candidates to fill in a form asking questions about family and what it means to them.

Here are their answers:

Tell me a bit about your family.

“Lots of sass, hormones & tantrums but also a ton of love, laughter & happiness. I was a single parent to Florence for 3 years. Myself and Siobhan used to work together & have been friends for over 10 years. We started to spend time together & a spark was there that neither of us had noticed before. After a year we decided to try and build on our family unit & after numerous IUI cycles we fell pregnant with baby Aubree.”

Why would you like to participate in this project?

“To show a different type of family to what the media show as a “traditional family”.”

Thank you so much again to Stacey, Siobhan, Florence, Aubree, and Rolo and Barney for participating in this very special session.

I have loved seeing your version of family and think it is so beautiful and loving – and full of energy!!
